Credit Union Leaders Add Fundraising Event During GoWest Maxx Conference

Credit union chapter leaders from across Colorado are coming together to raise money for Credit Unions for Kids and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by hosting Pints with Purpose, an event designed to kick off the GoWest Maxx Conference in October. The evening of networking and fundraising will complement the association’s annual fundraising dinner during the conference.

Pints with Purpose will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Green Valley Ranch Beer Garden in Denver, conveniently located near the conference hotel - Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. GoWest Maxx Conference attendees and credit union industry employees are welcome to attend, and a shuttle will be available to and from the hotel.

“This event will be a unique opportunity for credit union professionals from across the GoWest region to network, collaborate, and celebrate the power of cooperative action,” said Scott Sager, chief financial officer for Colorado Credit Union and one of the event organizers. “This isn’t just about raising funds; it’s about showcasing the true essence of the credit union movement—people helping people.”

Inspired by the heartfelt stories and success of the Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) auction held annually by the GoWest Credit Union Association, Colorado-area credit union leaders began brainstorming ways to enhance the impact of giving for credit unions of all sizes.

“We are thrilled to see credit unions collaborating for such a meaningful cause,” said Nick Coleman, director, strategic partnerships for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “The funds raised through Pints with Purpose will directly support our hospitals and the families who rely on them. This event truly exemplifies the spirit of community and cooperation that credit unions are known for.”

Pints with Purpose embodies the credit union difference, demonstrating how credit unions, regardless of size, can come together to create lasting change. The event is spearheaded by a dedicated committee of leaders from across the state, including:

  • Nathan Cape, Minnequa Works Credit Union

  • Scott Sager, Colorado Credit Union

  • Diane Arthur, Climb Credit Union

  • Shaundra Houd, Canvas Credit Union

  • Zachary Matheny, Air Academy Credit Union

  • Lexy Strong, GoWest Credit Union Association

  • Nick Coleman, Children’s Miracle Network

  • Kacie Merrick, Children’s Miracle Network

“We are already witnessing the cooperative spirit between credit unions and the community,” added Nathan Cape, chief executive officer for Minnequa Works Credit Union. “Green Valley Ranch Beer Garden has generously stepped up as an in-kind sponsorship partner, allowing the donations for the event to go even further.”

The event is free to attend, and donations are encouraged. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $2,500. Proceeds from Pints with Purpose will be presented at the Diamond Roundup Benefit Auction on Oct. 15. To register or to make a donation, visit helpmakemiracles.org/event/PintsWithPurpose.
