SDCCU Offers Free Educational Resources for America Saves Week

SDCCU presents a series of webinars focused on saving as part of SDCCU’s Financial Wellness Wednesdays

San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is committed to promoting the importance of building a strong savings to maintain financial security and overall wellness through its support of America Saves Week, taking place April 8 to 12, 2024. This year’s theme is “Saving for What Matters Most.” On Wednesday, April 10, SDCCU will present three free educational webinars focused on saving at various stages of life as part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays. The first webinar at 9 a.m. is part of SDCCU’s Biz Kid$ series: “Biz Kid$: Are You Financially Literate?” followed by “Cybersecurity with Jim Stickley” at noon, which will teach attendees about scams and how to protect themselves from fraud. The last webinar, titled “Simple Ways to Slash Spending,” will take place at 3 p.m.

“Creating consistent saving habits, no matter how small, can make a big difference over time,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO. “We are pleased to do our part in educating the community about the importance of saving by providing free financial literacy resources. We encourage the community to take advantage of these free resources to create their financial plan and build toward their desired financial future.”

According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), nearly a quarter of consumers (24%) have no savings set aside for emergencies. This is one of the reasons the CFPB started the Start Small, Save Up initiative to help consumers build a basic savings cushion and better saving habits for a more secure financial future.

This webinar series focuses on building and protecting your savings and is part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to help the community access free financial wellness information.
