Travis Credit Union Celebrates Community Impact

Credit Union Honors Board Member and Establishes Len Augustine Community Impact Award

Travis Credit Union showcased the positive impact it has had on nonprofits and organizations across Northern California in 2024 through its work in financial wellness, advocacy, community service, scholarships and more. The event, held at Travis Credit Union’s corporate office in Vacaville, also recognized former Vacaville mayor and Travis Credit Union Board Member Len Augustine, highlighting his enduring legacy and numerous contributions, including his dedication to financial education and literacy and serving as an instrumental advocate in helping Travis Credit Union win city approval to build its new corporate office in Vacaville.

“My interest has been to ensure that our region has a reputable credit union like Travis Credit Union serving the area,” said Len Augustine. “What a credit union represents—a commitment to community and giving back, is an essential part of our fabric. To have a financial institution that cares about people, I’m proud of being part of that.”

Presentations at the breakfast included:

  • Testimonials from students highlighting their experience with Generation Wealth, formerly Mad City Money, the credit union’s youth financial literacy outreach program.

  • Samantha Working, principal of Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy, spoke about Generation Wealth, the program’s benefits and the necessity of financial education in today’s schools.

  • Teachers’ testimonials from Contra Costa’s Teacher of the Year winners, an award sponsored by Travis Credit Union.

  • A video highlighting Augustine’s service to Travis Credit Union.

  • A spotlight on Travis AFB’s Wings Over Solano air show sponsored in part by Travis Credit Union.

  • Highlights of the credit union’s work with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club and the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce.

“Travis Credit Union’s Community Impact reach is vast, from supporting financial wellness initiatives and providing aid to organizations and nonprofits, to championing small businesses and strengthening local economies through active Chamber support,” said Kevin Miller, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union. “Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Travis Credit Union regularly partners with nonprofits and foundations, local economic development centers, government organizations and Travis Air Force Base support organizations. It has been recognized with awards at the federal, state and local levels for its longstanding financial education efforts.
