Westerra Credit Union Partners with Mile High United Way for Annual All-Staff Afternoon of Service

Westerra Credit Union once again hosted an annual all-staff meeting and afternoon of service - dubbed “VolunTerra” – on April 18th. The date was chosen to coincide with National Volunteer Week and is a continuation of the year-around support the award-winning Westerra Cares program provides to the community through corporate giving and employee volunteerism.

Last year, during the inaugural VolunTerra, approximately 300 Westerra staff members completed over 550 total kits to support United for Schools students and teachers, Women United Village, and Project Angel Heart.  Building on this success and positive response from staff, Westerra once again partnered with Mile High United Way for kit assembly. By working with an established and respected community partner like Mile High United Way, Westerra was able to once again ensure the seamless execution of the afternoon of service and maximize the impact of their staff’s efforts.

“The all-staff portion of the meeting is an opportunity to gather as a whole and hone in on our strategic goals for 2024, share inspiring member impact stories and connect with each other,” said Ellie Fordyce, Chief People Office. “In addition, combining an afternoon of service supports our purpose – we exist to teach one another to prosper – and the fundamental mission of Westerra Cares.”

“Mile High United Way was pleased to once again partner with Westerra Credit Union in their all-staff event as part of National Volunteer Week,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way president and CEO. “We can only accomplish all we do for the Metro Denver community with the help of the thousands of volunteers who partner with us each year. Thanks to Westerra Credit Union, hundreds of young people will receive the resources they need, and teachers will be recognized for all they do for students every day.”
