SkyPoint FCU hires Carla Decker as CEO

SkyPoint Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the hiring of their new CEO, Carla Decker, who assumes the position from retiring CEO, James H. Norris III. CU Strategic Planning was enlisted to assist with the search.

“I’d like to congratulate Jim on his many accomplishments and to thank him and the Board of Directors for leading SkyPoint to such a strong and stable position so we can move ahead with confidence,” Decker said.

Committed to helping underserved communities.

Decker brings over 25 years of experience leading credit unions in the Washington, DC area.

As president/CEO of DC FCU, Decker helped triple its assets, expand its service area, and earn Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) status by empowering historically underserved low- and moderate-income residents. As COO of IDB Global FCU, Decker's team delivered personalized services to members in 75 countries via an omnichannel digital banking strategy.

Advocates for inclusivity, education, and reducing poverty.

Originally from Peru, Decker understands the immigrant experience firsthand. She was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the DC metro area by Spanish-language publication El Tiempo Latino. Recently, she was inducted into the African American Credit Union Coalition’s Hall of Fame.

Decker holds a B.A. in Finance and General Studies from Southeastern University in Washington, DC, an M.A. in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, and a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

“In these uncertain economic times, I am confident in SkyPoint’s strong financial position,” Decker continued. “I look forward to working with the SkyPoint team and Board of Directors to continue to build from our history, experience, and successes to address current and future challenges, to meet our members where they are on their financial journeys, and help them build stronger financial lives.”
