600 kids benefit from Kinecta FCU’s 15th Annual Backpack Drive

Kinecta Federal Credit Union hosted its 15th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive on August 10th to help students prepare for the 2024-2025 school year.

More than 600 students received backpacks filled with various school supplies. Additionally, sack lunches and ice cream from the Kinecta ice cream truck were provided at the event.

“Making an impact in the communities we serve is an important part of the Kinecta culture,” said Latrice McGlothin, Executive Director of the Kinecta Community Foundation. “One way Kinecta does that is by fostering education and hosting an annual backpack drive; providing kids with the supplies they need is just one aspect of that.”

Backpacks were provided to students through these community partners:

· Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center

· Boys and Girls Club of Carson

· Camp Good Days

· Environmental Charter School

· East Side Riders Bike Club

· Foster Love

· Learn • Engage • Advocate • Partner (LEAP)

· LAPD Southeast Cadets

· National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)

· Parents of Watts

· Richstone Family Center

· St. Albert the Great School

· St. Lawrence of Brindisi School

· Thomas House Family Shelter

· Verbum Dei High School · Watts/Century Latino Organization

During 2023, Kinecta, its subsidiaries and employees donated more than $1.2 million to charitable causes, volunteered over 7,000 hours and participated in over 200 community events. To learn more about Kinecta's community outreach programs and activities, visit kinecta.org/community.
