Aggieland Credit Union Gives Away $5,000 in Tuition Takedown Sweepstakes

Texas A&M Kinesiology major Rebecca McFarland is the winner of $5,000 from Aggieland Credit Union.

Texas A&M Sophomore Rebecca McFarland from Bastrop won the Aggieland Credit Union Tuition Takedown Sweepstakes, netting her $5,000.

McFarland, from Bastrop, was randomly selected from more than 80,000 entries in the seventh annual Tuition Takedown Sweepstakes, created by the credit union to help an Aggie student with their college expenses.

“I was checking out of the grocery store when I received a message saying I won $5,000 from Aggieland Credit Union,” said McFarland. “I started tearing up because I had been stressing out over the cost of everything for this upcoming school year.”

McFarland added, “I am paying for my education myself by working and with student loans. This relieves the stress I have been under about not having enough money to cover tuition and expenses this semester.”

Nearly 550 A&M students participated in this year’s sweepstakes. Each time they used their Aggieland Credit Union debit card to make a purchase they received an entry into the sweepstakes, generating more than 84,341 debit card transactions during the promotion period.

“I became a member of Aggieland Credit Union last year when I entered A&M,” McFarland stated. “I joined the credit union so that I would have a local banking relationship with a trusted source in College Station.”

Jason McPhee, AVP of Strategic Partnerships and University Relations of Aggieland Credit Union explained “We know the cost to attend college can be difficult to cover. The Tuition Takedown Sweepstakes is one small way the credit union is able to help our Aggie student members.”
