Alabama Credit Unions Celebrate Legislative Wins at Governor Bill Signing
The League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) and Alabama credit union leaders are proud to announce significant legislative victories achieved during the 2024 session. Among the most notable accomplishments, LSCU and Alabama credit union leaders were honored to stand with Governor Kay Ivey as she signed crucial legislation mandating the titling of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
This new legislation, effective for off-road vehicles manufactured after January 2026, was a top legislative priority for Alabama's credit unions. With the full support of Alabama law enforcement, this mandate will enhance the ability to determine ownership, deter theft, and facilitate repossession of ATVs if necessary.
"The 2024 Legislative Session has concluded, and we fared very well in passing, blocking, and monitoring legislation that would impact Alabama's credit unions," expressed Michelle Roth, LSCU's Senior Director of Governmental Affairs in Alabama. "We had great success because of you, our credit unions! I'm very proud to represent Alabama's credit unions and appreciate your support and engagement throughout the legislative process."
Alabama credit unions also had other significant legislative wins this year, including stopping legislation preventing credit unions from acquiring banks and changing interchange regulations. LSCU commends the dedication and hard work of its members and partners, whose hard work and advocacy were pivotal in achieving these legislative successes. We remain committed to representing and advancing the interests of Alabama's credit unions.
