American Eagle Financial Credit Union (AEFCU) has awarded an Avon-based 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit with a $3,000 donation to recognize and support its important work to provide monetary assistance and free financial advice to households in need. The donation—to the Greystone Foundation—came from American Eagle’s donor-advised fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

“American Eagle is guided by our mission of enriching the lives of our communities to and creating a world where financial freedom is a reality,” said AEFCU President & CEO Howard Brady. “Knowledge is the first step on that journey, and the Greystone Foundation’s mission to provide short-term financial assistance and free financial counseling to struggling individuals and families is very much aligned with our own efforts to boost financial literacy and help people gain a solid footing on the pathway to financial freedom.

“We give when and where we can make a difference, and the Greystone Foundation makes a difference every day. And Greystone’s all-volunteer team trains and helps their clients with the know-how to develop and maintain financial stability. We’re happy to support their important work,” Brady added.

The Greystone Foundation has directly helped many individuals and households through financial assistance, social services program qualification and improved financial literacy.

They have assisted their clients with:

  • Eviction avoidance and rental payments

  • Utility and healthcare bills

  • Car, tax and insurance payments

  • Household budget rationalization.

“Greystone is committed to empower individuals and families to take control of their finances, overcome financial obstacles and achieve long-term stability and security. Through our programs, we strive to provide tangible resources and support that can make a meaningful difference in people's lives,” said J. Timothy Lefever, President of the Greystone Foundation. “We are very appreciative of the support that the American Eagle Financial Credit Union has provided to us to further this effort.”
