Ben Whitford Promoted to Accounting Manager at Reliant Credit Union

Reliant Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Ben Whitford to Accounting Manager. Reliant strives to offer interesting and rewarding work for all employees and takes pride in helping to foster employee growth and development.

Mr. Whitford joined the credit union in 2009 and has held the roles of Teller, Teller Supervisor, AP/Fixed Asset Accountant, and, most recently, Senior Accountant - Corporate. Through his experience on the accounting team, he gained a strong working knowledge of the roles and functions of the department.

In his new role, Mr. Whitford will ensure that the credit union’s comprehensive set of internal and external controls comply with generally accepted accounting principles as well as state and federal credit union regulations. In addition, he will oversee the accuracy of accounting records and preparation of standard financial reports, and exercise managerial leadership duties as it relates to staffing, development and training.

Mr. Whitford earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting at Maranatha University. He continued his studies at Liberty University where he obtained a Master of Science in accounting. Mr. Whitford is currently a Deacon and Trustee at Calvary Baptist Church in Fair Haven. He lives in Wolcott with his wife and daughter and enjoys working on house renovations, hunting for treasures at auctions and garage sales, reading, watching hockey, and playing board games and spending time with his family.

“I have always loved the culture at Reliant and the people who work here. I was a member first and it was the service that I received that made me want to work here,” said Mr. Whitford. “I am excited for the challenge of taking on a new role and developing new skills in management."
