Boys & Girls Club of the Diamond Hills Unveils Mural Funded by United Federal Credit Union

The new mural outside the Boys & Girls Club of the Diamond Hills – Alma Unit

“United We Grow” by contest winner, Melody Smith

A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 for a new mural at the Boys & Girls Club of the Diamond Hills – Alma Unit.

The mural, which was made possible by a donation from United Federal Credit Union (United), was designed by Melody Smith. Her “United We Grow” concept won a contest held by the Club as a way to engage Club kids, parents, and the greater Alma community.

“The mural is a perfect representation of what is going on within the walls of the Club,” said Amber Mikles, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Diamond Hills. “Children are engaging in STEM activities. A young girl and boy are creating their own masterpieces in the art room. Some children may be learning new skills in the technology center. A teen is easting an apple during mealtime, none of this could happen without incredible community partners like United.

The mural is painted on the west wall of the Club.

“It is fantastic to see the finished product here at the Club,” said Stephanie Riffle, Regional Vice President for United. “The addition of this artwork is a perfect example of the way this organization provides such positive outlets for our kids to be creative and grow. United is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Club and help shape the next generation.”
