CCUA’s Massachusetts Credit Unions Make Significant Contribution to MA Coalition for the Homeless, Topping $3M Donation Total

The Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) member credit unions in Massachusetts, proudly announce a substantial donation to the Massachusetts Coalition (Coalition) for the Homeless' A Bed for Every Child initiative. This year, Massachusetts Credit Unions presented a check for $100,000, culminating with the annual golf tournament held on June 25th. This donation marks a significant milestone, bringing the Commonwealth’s credit unions' total contributions to over $3 million during their 27 years of support.

“We are incredibly proud of the longstanding support of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and the tangible difference our members have made in the lives of so many children through the A Bed for Every Child initiative,” said Ron McLean, President and CEO at the CCUA. “This year’s donation represents not just the generosity of our credit unions, but also our unwavering commitment to the communities and members our credit unions serve.”

This achievement was made possible by the collective efforts of 114 credit unions serving 2.8 million members across Massachusetts.

"Seeing the ‘people helping people’ principle of the credit union movement in action through the collaborative efforts of all Massachusetts credit unions reinforces our combined missions," said Charlene Bauer, Chief Development Officer at Metro Credit Union and Chair of the Massachusetts Credit Unions Social Responsibility Committee. “It is heartwarming to witness credit unions from across the state come together, raising funds and building beds to ensure children have a good night’s sleep."

Throughout the year, credit unions in the Bay State engaged in numerous fundraising activities to support this vital initiative through the Coalition. Efforts included bed-building events, book drives, general appeals, and the annual Stephen D. Jones charitable golf tournament. These events contributed to the Coalition’s goal of providing every child with a comfortable bed, helping to ensure that children across the state have a better chance at a good night’s sleep and a brighter future.
