Centra Credit Union Donates $120,000 to Non-Profits

Centra Credit Union has announced grants to 48 non-profits within the Communities it serves, totaling $120,000.

Centra Team Members were asked to nominate the non-profits they feel passionate about supporting, and one non-profit was selected for each team within Centra.

“One of the things I love about Centra is the passion that all of its Team Members have when it comes to giving back to their community,” Centra Director of Community Involvement Jenni Carr said. “Our annual Team Member nominated donations campaign is just one way we seek to give back in a big way to the local non-profits who do so much for our Communities.”

Selected organizations can use these grants to further their missions and continue to serve their communities. The funds will be delivered to the selected non-profits by the end of November. A full list of the organizations receiving grants can be found at Centra.org.

These Team Member nominated donations are one of many programs the Centra Foundation and Centra Credit Union have to give back to their Members and the Communities they serve. In 2023, Centra and the Centra Foundation gave back more than $265,000 to their communities and Members.

“At Centra, ensuring we continue to create value for our Communities is crucial to our organization and helps us live out the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People,’” Centra President and CEO Rick Silvers said. “Giving giving back to our community is very important to us. Whether it’s through volunteering or monetary donations, each contribution can make a lasting impact on an organization, and I feel that Centra does an amazing job at that.”

36 students in the Communities Centra serves were awarded scholarships in April 2024 to support their education. Similarly, local teachers received support from the Centra Foundation through Teaming Up with Teachers, a social media contest where eight participating educators each won a $250 shopping spree for their classroom.

Centra also gives back directly to its Members through their Member Loyalty Rewards program. In 2023, more than 77,000 Members participated in the program, and collectively, they earned and saved a total of $3.2 million. These cash rewards are deposited into a special high interest savings account to further reward Centra’s Members.

Financial support for the Communities Centra serves will continue throughout the remainder of the year with Centra’s United Way Workplace Campaign and the Centra Foundation’s Holiday Giving Program. Centra Team Members and Members donate to these programs to help support non-profits in their local communities
