DCUC Congratulates the Honorable Tanya F. Otsuka, NCUA Board Member
On January 8, 2024, the Honorable Tanya F. Otsuka was sworn in as the 25th Board Member of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Otsuka was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden in September to serve on the NCUA Board in place of the Honorable Rodney E. Hood and was officially confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 20, 2023.
The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) sent a letter to Otsuka and released the following statement, extending its congratulations and support of Otsuka’s recent appointment to the NCUA Board:
“On behalf of the Board of Directors for the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), we congratulate Ms. Tanya Otsukaon on her confirmation to the Board of the National Credit Union Administration,” said Anthony Hernandez, DCUC president/CEO.
DCUC advocates for all credit unions serving military and veteran communities including those located on United States military installations around the world. Its mission focuses on both financial safety and financial inclusion of our military and veterans as credit union members.
Hernandez further emphasizes the council’s support of Otsuka’s appointment to the NCUA Board: “From her statements during her confirmation hearing, it is clear we share a strong commitment to empowering consumers and strengthening the role of credit unions serving their communities. Backed by a strong record of accomplishment, our trade association continues to make a difference on behalf of our member credit unions and the communities they serve. In that context, we look forward to working with Ms. Otsuka and continuing to serve alongside the NCUA for our nation’s interests. Welcome Board Member Otsuka!”
