DCUC’s 60th Annual Conference Begins

The Defense Credit Union Council’s (DCUC) 60th Annual Conference has officially begun! DCUC welcomed attendees and guests to this year’s conference on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Broadmoor Resort and Spa in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Sixty years ago, DCUC’s founders recognized credit unions’ need for an organization that knew how to speak military; one that not only could provide them with more education but also support credit unions’ concerns and needs arising when serving military and veteran communities. Shortly after DCUC’s formation, the first DCUC Annual Conference was held from September 17-19, 1963, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Since 1963, DCUC’s Annual Conference has providedcredit unions with an industry-only experience sharing the DoD and military perspective on credit union issues. During DCUC’s Annual Conference, attendees are able tonetwork directly with other credit union CEOs, executives, and top decision-makers who face the same challenges when serving the military community. In addition to receiving industry and advocacy updates, DCUC’s Annual Conference provides attendees with valuable discussions from keynote speakers and industry leaders, as well as opportunities to connect with corporate sponsors to helpgrow and improve critical aspects of credit unions’business.

“Every year we look forward to hosting our Annual Conference and offering our member credit unions this unique experience,” said Anthony Hernandez, DCUC president/CEO. “While all our conferences and eventsserve a special purpose, our Annual Conference has remained our main event each year to gather and recommit ourselves to serving those who serve our country. With that, DCUC has put a lot of hard work into making this year’s conference an unforgettable experience that not only shows our commitment to serving defense credit unions’ needs for over sixty years but honors it as well.”

DCUC kicked off the week with its 2023 VADM Vincent Lascara Golf Tournament, sponsored by TruStage, on the beautiful West Course of The Broadmoor Resort. Each year, the golf tournament serves as the start of DCUC’s Conference with a Purpose fundraiser. This year, DCUC selected the Robert Irvine Foundation as its conference charity keeping in mind its goal to support service members, veterans, and their families in their time of need. This year’s golf tournament alone raised $1,290 in donations for the Robert Irvine Foundation.

DCUC’s 60th Annual Conference will continue tomorrow with its first keynote speaker presentation, an advocacy update, and several other exciting events.
