Discovery Federal Credit Union Celebrates International Credit Union Day with $2,000 Donation to Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County

In celebration of International Credit Union Day on October 17, Discovery Federal Credit Union reinforced its commitment to the cooperative principle of “Concern for Community” with a $2,000 donation to Breast Cancer Support Services (BCSS) of Berks County. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, Discovery FCU strives to make a positive impact on its members and the local community, a mission that was at the heart of this donation and event.

International Credit Union Day is observed annually by credit unions worldwide to recognize the unique role they play in improving financial well-being and strengthening communities. Discovery FCU commemorated the day by welcoming BCSS representatives to its Wyomissing branch, where they shared valuable information with members about local support resources for those affected by breast cancer. Members enjoyed a festive atmosphere, complete with complimentary hot dogs and a prize wheel, bringing the community together in a spirit of celebration and solidarity.

“Our cooperative structure allows us to prioritize community needs, and International Credit Union Day was a wonderful occasion to demonstrate that commitment,” said Michele Smith, CEO of Discovery Federal Credit Union. “Partnering with BCSS aligns with our mission to support the well-being of our community, and we are honored to help further their work here in Berks County.”
