Financial Plus Credit Union Awards Nine $1,000 Scholarships to Exceptional Students
Financial Plus Credit Union is proud to award their ninth annual “Reach for Success” Scholarships (formerly known as “You are the Future”) to Mark Behnfeldt, Tate Dutcher, Kristen Hamilton, Margaret VanGoethem, and David Wallace. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship to use during their 2024-2025 academic school year. This scholarship can be applied towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
In March, Financial Plus also introduced four exclusive $1,000 scholarship opportunities, each awarded to a graduating senior from Bendle High School, Kearsley High School, LakeVille High School, and Swartz Creek High School. The recipients of the "Financial Plus Credit Union" Scholarships—Faith McDermott (Bendle High School), Adrienne Walker (Swartz Creek High School), Abbey Willingham (Kearsley High School), and Dominic Wright (LakeVille High School)—were celebrated and announced during their respective senior honors nights.
Financial Plus Credit Union received over 150 scholarship applications from students attending high school, college, and trade school. “We’re delighted to see so many talented and driven individuals pursuing their academic goals. This response is a testament to the importance of investing in the future and supporting the next generation of leaders. Financial Plus is proud to grant scholarships to these exceptional individuals who demonstrate academic commitment and positively impact their community,” said Ciara Kolasinski, Financial Wellness Coach at Financial Plus Credit Union.
Mark is a bright student with a passion for service, performing countless hours of community service at Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton. Tate, a well-rounded student and leader from Bay City, plans to attend Central Michigan University in the Fall. Kristen is a current student attending Capella University for a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Care Administration with a Specialization in Leadership. From Hartland, Margaret is a kind, positive leader that thrives on being involved in her community. David is a motivated student eager to try new things, participating in track and field, Varsity Quiz Bowl, and creating a euchre club at Linden High School.
Scholarship judges at Financial Plus reviewed all eligible entries and awarded the recipient based on attaining all requirements.
