First Commerce Credit Union Celebrates Grand Re-Opening of Newly Remodeled Summit East Financial Center

State-of-the-art full-service financial center celebrated as only convenient banking option on Tallahassee’s east side amid week of food, fun, and activities

First Commerce, together with its Board of Directors and the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, ushered in a new chapter for the credit union’s Summit East Financial Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil its newly remodeled and expanded financial center. The location offers the only convenient banking option on Tallahassee’s east side including for neighboring communities like Monticello.

The nearly $500,000 renovation project prioritizes comfort and functionality, offering meeting spaces to consult one-on-one with knowledgeable team members. First Commerce’s renovation project also contributed to the local economy, employing 15 subcontractors and vendors – all from the Tallahassee area.

“Every aspect of this financial center has been designed to create an inviting environment that encourages conversation, consultation, and learning,” said First Commerce CEO Cecilia Homison. “This location is another shining example of our vision to Empower Generations and Transform Communities, with our financial centers serving as key beacons of support and empowerment.”

The state-of-the-art, full-service financial center is located inside First Commerce’s corporate headquarters at 2073 Summit Lake Drive in the Summit East Technology Park, on Highway 90 near I-10 Exit 209B. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with extended hours for video teller service weekdays and Saturdays, as well as three ATMs available 24/7.

During the ribbon cutting, First Commerce Board Chair Alan Neubauer reflected on the credit union’s nearly 85-year history, noting that it all began in Tallahassee.

“As I think about how much we have accomplished together, I can say it has been an amazing journey. The First Commerce team has worked hard to deliver on our commitment to the community by bringing best-in-class financial products, services and technology to help the families and businesses of Tallahassee achieve their financial aspirations,” Neubauer told the crowd gathered outside the Summit East location.

The ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 9, was part of a weeklong series of events that invited members and the public to stop by and experience the newly revamped space. On Monday, First Commerce hosted a “Power Up” start to the week with free coffee, donuts and other treats inside the financial center for neighbors and friends. On Tuesday, First Commerce treated the first 50 guests to a delicious lunch from Chile & Chili’s food truck. On Thursday, the community was invited to “Get the Scoop” on products and services for the whole family while enjoying complimentary treats on FCCU from Momma P’s Ice Cream. The week concluded with a tailgate-style community cookout and fun games for visitors to enjoy.

In addition to its other convenient features, the Summit East Financial Center has two ATMs adjacent to the lobby with 24/7 access. The enhanced ATMs also provide video teller service during extended hours Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. An additional drive-thru ATM is available in the parking lot in front of the financial center. Adding convenience for day-to-day banking needs, First Commerce also offers the latest digital and remote banking options including a robust app featuring mobile deposit, Zelle, and more; a nationwide surcharge-free ATM network; and instant-issue debit cards with online card controls and Apple/Google Pay. First Commerce empowers generations with products and services for all ages, including savings accounts for kids, checking accounts for teens and customizable options for adults, home loans, financial planning and investment services through Six Pillars Financial Advisors – as well as a full array of business services. Anyone who lives or works in Leon or surrounding counties is eligible to join First Commerce, which is Tallahassee’s largest locally based credit union and has been the area’s No. 1 local auto lender for 20 years.

The Summit East Technology Park is located on Highway 90 near I-10 Exit 209B, approximately 1 mile east of the Tallahassee Automobile Museum and the Amazon Fulfillment Center.
