First Community Credit Union to match up to $5,000 in donations to Caritas Food Pantry – Now through September 30th

Donations to Caritas Food Pantry has twice the impact. First Community Credit Union is matching donations, dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 through September 30, 2023.

Inflation and rising food costs are affecting individuals and families who have never needed to turn to food pantries for help. People who may have gotten by paycheck to paycheck are now struggling to get the food they need to feed their families. More people than ever are turning to local food programs for support, but food pantries are struggling to keep up with the increases in demand.

The food pantry has already spent 104% of its food budget for 2023, according to Executive Director Max Dodson. "We have purchased triple the amount of food this past year than ever before, just to meet that increased need," Dodson said. "When you take into account the increased cost of that food, it really strains our resources."

With the dollar-for-dollar match from First Community Credit Union, donations to Caritas will have a significant impact to help support their mission of ending hunger. Every donation received helps Caritas make a substantial difference in the lives of our community members, ensuring they have nutritious meals when they need them the most.

President, Jack Gill stated, “FirstCCU is proud to be long-time community partners with Caritas Food Pantry. We’re embracing the opportunity to raise awareness and support Caritas’s efforts. We hope that this matching gift opportunity enables Caritas to remain a vital resource for food and help build healthy communities.”
