First Harvest Credit Union Supports Community Organizations for CrossState Credit Union Association’s CU Kind Day

Day Aims to Spread Kindness and Service Throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania

First Harvest Credit Union (“First Harvest”) participated in the CrossState Credit Union Association’s CU Kind Day with Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives, Charitable Journey Donation, and additional community volunteer efforts. CU Kind Day aims to demonstrate the “people helping people” philosophy of credit unions. First Harvest employees hosted two fundraising programs, benefitting The Military Support Group of New Jersey and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and volunteers at three organizations throughout South Jersey.

First Harvest’s Charitable Journey Program raised $890 for The Military Support Group of New Jersey, a nonprofit organization that seeks to help and support service members and veterans both at home and abroad.

Through First Harvest’s Charitable Journey program, employees and members can make a $1 donation to purchase a pink ribbon, which can include their own personal message and will be displayed in First Harvest branch locations. First Harvest will be matching employee and member donations to the Pink Ribbon Program. All donations made will directly support local breast cancer research and patients through the MD Anderson Cancer
Center at Cooper.

First Harvest employees also took part in three “Pink-Out” dress-down days throughout October to demonstrate their support for the cause. Since inception, the Charitable Journey Program has donated over $52,400 to local charities and organizations.

Additionally, over 30 hours of community service were completed by First Harvest employees to make positive impacts throughout our region. Benefitting organizations include The Arc of Cumberland County to support individuals with disabilities, the Burn Foundation at the Annual Convention of the NJ State Firemen’s Association to support burn victims, and Habitat for Humanity to help build safe and affordable homes for New Jersey residents.

“Credit unions are in the people business and are dedicated to serving their members as well as the communities of which they are a part. The impacts made by our team stretch beyond our members’ financial wellbeing,” stated First Harvest President & CEO, Mike Dinneen. “The programs and organizations our Charitable Journey Program and employee support are essential to the health, wellbeing, and prosperity of our communities. I am so proud of our employees for their social commitment and dedication to the communities we serve.”
