Harborstone Credit Union Selects Dolores Broeske as Chief People Officer

Harborstone Credit Union has selected Dolores Broeske, a dynamic leader who joins Harborstone to create focus around workplace engagement, enhance talent development opportunities, and guide culture initiatives that lead to consistent and effective change management across the organization, as its new Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer.

Serving the credit union movement for more than 30 years, most recently as the President and CEO of HAPO Community Credit Union in Richland, Washington, Dolores led a variety of teams across the credit union, from lending and special projects to strategic management and human resources. She has dedicated expertise in organizational management, strategic execution and visioning, and influencing a culture of belonging to drive growth and success for the credit union.

As shared by Geoff Bullock, President and CEO of Harborstone Credit Union, “Dolores is a giant in our industry, with a tremendous reputation as a leader of leaders who knows how to build strong teams. Dolores’ values align with our values as an organization; she will be a fantastic addition to the entire organization and our Executive Team.”

As part of the CUES CEO Institute Program, she attended the Cornell Johnson School of Management, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business where she studied organizational effectiveness, strategic planning and strategic leadership development. Dolores has received a number of accolades for her leadership over the years. In 2022, Dolores was honored by making the American Banker top 25 women leaders list as one of The Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions through her work to encourage employee loyalty and deepen the connection to company culture while supporting safety, wellness, and mental health. She believes in embracing diversity in the workplace while encouraging success for all individuals.

In September 2023, Dolores received the ATHENA Leadership Award, presented by the Tri-City Regional Chamber, recognizing women of professional excellence who are dedicated to community service and proactively seeking assistance for women in their pursuance and attainment of leadership skills.

“It is my honor to join the team at Harborstone Credit Union and to serve as their Chief People Officer. I look forward to being a strategic partner to ensure all people-related initiatives support the mission and vision of the credit union, and bringing my passion to create a culture of belonging where employees feel engaged, supported, and motivated to contribute to the success of our members and communities,” shared Dolores.

In her spare time, Dolores enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband of 33 years, two sons and three grandchildren. A Cancer Survivor as of 2019, she has a renewed outlook on life and enjoys spending time outdoors, soaking up all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
