Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union Honors Fallen Officers with Memorial Shirt Fundraiser
Law Enforcement Credit Union created limited-edition memorial shirts to raise funds for the families of fallen officers
Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union (LAPFCU) is a full-service financial services provider that serves law enforcement community and their families in counties throughout Southern California. Always affected by the loss of an officer, the LAPFCU staff wanted to assist the families that are dealing with these life-altering casualties. The organization commissioned an artist to create original artwork for memorial shirts to honor the sacrifice made by law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Shirts will be sold online and in person at LAPFCU branches. All proceeds from shirt sales benefit the families of fallen officers.
“LAPFCU is dedicated to serving those who serve and protect us every single day. We are constantly reminded that this is a career that can offer so much fulfillment, but also take everything in an instant,” says John Roemer, President and CEO of LAPFCU. “We are so grateful to these real-life heroes who continuously face exceptional situations and act with integrity and bravery. They put their lives on the line every day to protect us. This is our small way of supporting their efforts and letting them know that we truly appreciate the daily battles they face. The families left behind when an officer passes away are left to deal with this chasm of loss for the rest of their lives. We hold these heroes in our hearts and memories.”
The memorial shirt portrays St. Michael, patron saint of law enforcement, standing guard over officer/K-9 angels before a “Never Forget” memorial, and a plaque with badges shrouded by mourning bands. A banner with the words, “Honoring Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice,” arches over the scene. The memorial shirt fundraiser coincides with National Police Week, celebrated May 14 through 20. Shirts are available to order online April 24 through May 6 at lapfcu.org/memorial-shirt, and sales are open to the public. Shirts will also be sold in-person at LAPFCU branches—located in Van Nuys, Los Angeles (at the LAPD Academy and Brewer/LAPD Ahmanson Recruiting Training Center), and Santa Clarita—May 15 through 19.
