NCUA Chairman Harper Testifies Before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services
National Credit Union Administration Chairman Todd M. Harper and other financial regulatory agency principals testified today at a hearing before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services.
Chairman Harper provided the Committee with an overview of the current state of the credit union system; the NCUA’s efforts to maintain its safety and soundness, protect the consumers who use credit unions, and advance economic opportunity; the NCUA’s response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton; and several of the NCUA’s legislative requests, including the restoration of third-party vendor oversight.
Additionally, Chairman Harper provided the Committee with an overview of the performance of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, noting that the fund continues to perform well, and no premiums are expected.
Concluding his testimony, Chairman Harper assured the Committee that the NCUA will continue to work with other federal financial institution regulators, as appropriate, to ensure the overall resiliency and stability of the nation’s financial services system and economy. He stressed the need for Congress to adopt the legislative changes described in his testimony to further these efforts.
