Point Breeze Credit Union Announces “The Harvest” Charity Golf Tournament

Point Breeze Credit Union will hold its annual “The Harvest” Golf Tournament to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (MFB) on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley.

“The Harvest” Golf Tournament offers an afternoon of premier golf, lively competition, and the opportunity to give back to fellow Marylanders in need. For a registration fee of $225 per golfer or $800 per foursome, attendees can enjoy a complementary lunch and dinner, prizes for top golfers, raffles, and a round of golf on one of the region’s most prestigious and picturesque championship golf courses. The tournament will feature a Captain’s Choice/Scramble format with golfer check-in and lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

The Maryland Food Bank has served as a key community resource throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, having distributed enough food to provide more than 97 million meals between March 2020 and May 2022. The food bank supports more than 330 Network Partners statewide that collectively provide nearly 1,300 distribution points with much-needed food for their local communities.

“Even as COVID lessens its grip across the state, the need for our services grows by the day due to inflation and rising costs for just about everything,” said Carmen Del Guercio, MFB’s President and CEO. “Point Breeze Credit Union’s continued support through this annual event has been critical, enabling us to focus on both the immediate food needs of Marylanders as well as our long-term efforts to create new paths to sufficiency that lead to lasting food security.”

Thanks to the support of participating golfers and many generous community sponsors, "The Harvest" has helped Point Breeze raise a combined total of $100,000 in donations to the Maryland Food Bank since the tournament’s inaugural year in 2018—a tremendous milestone in its efforts to support MFB’s mission to feed people, strengthen communities, and end hunger for more Marylanders.

“Giving back to the communities where we live and work is at the heart of what we do at Point Breeze and supporting the Maryland Food Bank through this tournament is very important us,” said Tonia Niedzialkowski, President and CEO of Point Breeze Credit Union. “We are grateful to be able to bring our community together to assist our neighbors in need, especially when so many have been affected by food insecurity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
