Revity Credit Union Selects John Merritt as Next CEO

Revity Credit Union has selected John Merritt as its next President/CEO. Merritt will assume his new role October 28th and succeed Keith Burton, who is retiring after serving as Revity’s CEO since 2013 and dedicating 38 years of service to the credit union.

“We’re thrilled to welcome John to Revity Credit Union,” says Jim Devine, Search Committee Chair. “We’re confident in his strategic leadership abilities and believe his experience shaping strategies that deliver sustained growth will benefit our team and our members. As our next CEO, John will be charged with continuing the legacy of our cooperative while leading Revity into the future."

Revity’s board of directors would also like to recognize retiring CEO, Keith Burton, who was just named 2024/25 Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce Southwestern Madison County, for his service and dedication. “We’re grateful for Keith’s personal and professional commitment and look forward to continuing the strong legacy of service he’s helped build at Revity,” says Devine.

Merritt brings over 25 years of industry experience to his new role, including fifteen years spent setting overall organizational strategy driven by his forward-looking vision and ability to bring teams together for successful execution. Most recently, he served as Chief Strategy Officer for Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union and held various executive-level positions at Enrichment Federal Credit Union. Merritt has also worked extensively with several state credit union leagues to enhance individual cooperatives as well as overall credit union status and awareness within each state.

“I’m honored to join an organization like Revity, which has built member-first solutions the community can rely on for generations,” says Merritt. “As a servant-leader, I’m looking forward to ensuring Revity continues to make a difference for its members and the communities it serves by continuously moving toward the future of finance.”

Merritt earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from Louisiana State University-Shreveport and his Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Accounting from Tusculum University. He is also a Certified Chief Executive, having completed all three successive years of CEO Institutes at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, SC Johnson School of Business at Cornell University, and Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
