Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union Opens Rio Grande Crossing Branch Near Old Town in Albuquerque

Ribbon-Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration Set for Saturday, February 3, 2024

Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union (SLFCU) will formally open its new Rio Grande Crossing branch at 1100 Rio Grande Blvd. NW (just north of I-40) on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration featuring refreshments, prize drawings, a flamenco performance, and a lowrider car show from 1 to 3 p.m. MT

“We are excited to offer financial services to members in Albuquerque’s Old Town area. This investment in our growth reflects our commitment to becoming an economic engine that helps our neighbors grow and prosper,” said Rick Anderson, SLFCU Executive Vice President.

MG Architects designed the single-story, 4,400-square-foot building, which is built in a New Mexico territorial architectural style to blend in with nearby buildings. Albuquerque-based Insight Construction, Inc. was the general contractor.

Instead of tellers behind a counter, the Rio Grande Crossing branch features the first of SLFCU’s new Experience Centers, which offer a more direct relationship between SLFCU’s employees and members. “These centers are a new and unique feature of this branch, and one we intend to carry forward as we continue to expand,” said Anderson. “We believe they will connect members with our financial experts in an engaging way.”

The branch lobby is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Drive-up services are available from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Rio Grande Crossing is SLFCU’s 13th branch. The Credit Union has seven branches in Albuquerque, two in Farmington, and one each in Edgewood, Los Lunas and Rio Rancho in New Mexico, as well as a branch in Livermore, California.
