SDFCU Announces Jim Hayes as New CEO

State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) is pleased to announce Jim Hayes as its new President/CEO effective July 31, 2023. He succeeds Jan Roche who is retiring after twenty years of service with SDFCU. "The board is excited to welcome Jim Hayes as our new President/CEO. Jim is an experienced credit union executive whose passion and vision aligns well with our credit union” said Marlene Schwartz, SDFCU Board of Director’s Chair. "I know that Jim’s leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve our members "

Jim has more than 27 years of credit union management experience. Jim comes to SDFCU from State Employees Credit Union where he was serving as President/CEO. He previously worked for Western Corporate Federal Credit Union as their Chief Financial Officer and as a Capital Markets Specialist and Corporate Examiner for the National Credit Union Administration. In 2013, he became President/CEO of Andrews Federal Credit Union. Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, Master’s Degree from the University of La Verne, and has completed executive education with MIT and Stanford. “I am thrilled to have been selected as the next President/CEO of SDFCU and I’m looking forward to working with the SDFCU board, volunteers, and team to further the credit union’s mission,” said Jim. The selection of Jim ends a careful search process facilitated by Humanidei, a comprehensive people operations and executive search firm. After a thorough search process that attracted a diverse group of qualified candidates, SDFCU’s Selection Search Committee selected a President/CEO with extensive experience leading financial institutions and serving the needs of a diverse member base, including those who live overseas. Jan Roche expressed confidence in the board's choice. "It’s been a great honor to lead SDFCU and I’m so excited in the choice of Jim,” said Roche. "He will provide the strong leadership to keep SDFCU serving the needs and financial well-being of its global membership."
