Sooper Credit Union Unveils New Name

Sooper Credit Union is proud to announce it will change its name to Climb Credit Union, effective May 28, 2024. Founded in 1951 by a group of King Soopers employees, the credit union now accepts membership from most Colorado residents and serves nearly 40,000 members.

“After years of strategic planning, the Board of Directors and credit union leadership came to the decision to undergo a name change. I am incredibly proud of the success Sooper Credit Union has achieved in the past 73 years and I am enthusiastic about the future,” said Board Chair, Adam Williamson.

“Our passion to serve each of our members and our community has always been at the center of who we are. Our name is changing but our mission is not,” says President/CEO, Carrie Langgard. “As we look to the future of our credit union, we want to ensure that every member feels heard, supported, and empowered to take their next steps in reaching their financial goals. Because at Climb Credit Union, no one climbs alone.”

The credit union chose the name “Climb” to reflect their longstanding passion for helping members reach that next level. It encourages members to aspire for more. The name is optimistic and actively reaching for the future, just like the credit union.

Members can expect to see changes in their local branches, online, and their debit and credit cards beginning May 28. To ensure a smooth transition regarding the name change and new brand, the credit union has detailed FAQs available at soopercu.org/rebrand.
