Suncoast Credit Union Celebrates Milestone with One Millionth Checking Account Member

Suncoast Credit Union, the largest credit union in Florida, recently celebrated a significant milestone by welcoming its one millionth checking account member. The celebration took place at the West Osceola Service Center on Friday, August 23rd, where Suncoast executives honored Yofre Flores Gonzalez, a new business owner, with a special recognition ceremony.

During the event, Gonzalez, who recently opened both a business and personal checking account at the West Osceola Service Center, was surprised with a $1,500 check from Suncoast. This contribution will support Yofre’s journey in launching his food truck business. In addition to the check, Yofre was presented with a gift basket full of Suncoast Swag and a commemorative plaque.

Yofre's journey with Suncoast began when he opened a business account after starting his LLC for a food truck venture. Upon learning more about the advantages of credit union membership and the cooperative model, Yofre decided to open a personal checking account, making him Suncoast’s one-millionth checking account member.

"Suncoast Credit Union is making a real difference in my life,” said Gonzalez. “Since opening my accounts here, I am getting my personal finances in order and finally pursuing my dream of starting my own business. I wasn’t ready for this honor as the one-millionth checking account member but it makes me feel like my dream is falling into place, and that’s what I have always wanted.”

This milestone highlights Suncoast Credit Union’s impressive growth. Over the past decade, Suncoast has doubled its membership size, now serving more than 1.2 million members, and is the eighth-largest credit union in the United States by membership.

“Reaching one million checking accounts reflects our commitment to serving Florida’s communities with excellence,” said Kevin Johnson, President and CEO, Suncoast Credit Union "We are honored to celebrate with Yofre, whose entrepreneurial spirit and dedication embody the very values we support at Suncoast. Empowering our members to pursue and achieve their dreams is at the heart of what we do, and Yofre’s journey is a powerful testament to how a strong relationship with your financial institution can turn aspirations into reality."

The event highlighted Suncoast’s ongoing commitment to empowering its members and supporting local entrepreneurs.
