TBA Credit Union Celebrates Another Successful Year of the Student-Run Credit Union

TBA Credit Union has wrapped up the 2023-2024 Student-Run Credit Union (SRCU) program and helped students save over $3,500. This past year, the program was held in nine local schools.

This year, Blair Elementary School will receive the traveling trophy, which is awarded yearly to the school with the highest percentage of participation from TBA Credit Union student account holders.

The Student-Run Credit Union program is designed to encourage lifelong savings habits and provide first-time job experience to students in the 4th or 5th grade. Student volunteers apply and interview for their desired credit union position, then run an SRCU branch at their school. Student members can deposit money into their TBACU youth account or apply for membership without entering a branch.

“The student-run Credit Union program amazes me,” said Hannah Witte, Marketing Specialist at TBA Credit Union. “I have watched the program empower students with essential money management skills, providing them hands-on experiences in various roles such as credit union tellers, branch managers, marketing representatives, computer operators, and bookkeepers.”
