The Wisconsin Credit Union League Selects Sarah Wainscott as President/CEO

The Board of Directors of The Wisconsin Credit Union League (The League) is pleased to announce the selection of Sarah Wainscott as The League’s next President and Chief Executive Officer. Wainscott will succeed Brett Thompson, who will retire after serving Wisconsin’s credit unions for decades, including over 23 years of dedicated service as President and CEO of The League.

“The Board is immensely grateful for Brett's decades of servant leadership, which has made The Wisconsin Credit Union League one of the strongest Leagues in the nation,” said Christine Moczynski, President and CEO of Prime Financial Credit Union and Board Chair of The League. “Brett’s steadfast leadership has built a solid foundation of advocacy, collaboration, and unity for Wisconsin’s credit unions and our members.  We are delighted Sarah Wainscott has accepted the role to continue building on this foundation and to carry The Wisconsin Credit Union League into the future.  We wish Brett the best in a well-deserved retirement.”

“Sarah Wainscott’s extensive experience and dedication to Wisconsin's credit unions made her the standout choice in our national search. She brings an unparalleled passion for The Credit Union Movement and a visionary approach that will undoubtedly take The League to even greater heights,” said Brandon Riechers, The League’s Search Committee Chair and President and CEO of Royal Credit Union. “Sarah’s proven track record in leading strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation make her the perfect choice to guide us through this exciting new chapter. We are confident that Sarah's leadership will inspire us all to rise to the occasion and embrace the opportunities ahead."

“I have had the privilege of seeing, firsthand, the passion and sincerity credit unions bring toward achieving financial wellbeing for all throughout my career at The League,” said Wainscott. “Having the opportunity to further champion Wisconsin credit unions and work to amplify their impact is the honor of a lifetime. I am eager to work closely with our Board and members in this new capacity and am endlessly grateful for Brett's mentorship and the legacy he leaves behind.”

Wainscott began her career at The League in 2010 as a Government Affairs Assistant. She continued to expand her career in other roles such as Director of Government Affairs, Vice President of Government Affairs, and most recently as Senior Vice President of Advocacy. Wainscott is also an active Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists board member and serves on the Inaugural Advocacy Committee for the American Association of Credit Union Leagues.  Wainscott holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication arts and a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The search was completed in partnership with Humanidei. Humanidei brings decades of credit union system experience to the recruiting process, ensuring executive placements that will carry organizations forward in fulfillment of their mission.
