Three Credit Unions Hire New Leadership and CU League Announces Service Award Recipient

Three credit unions including People’s Credit Union announced new hires for executive and leadership positions, and The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates announced the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Service Award.

New Hires

  • People's Credit Union announced the appointment of Patricia Carlin as Head of Finance and Risk, effective immediately. As a member of the Executive Management Team, Ms. Carlin will be responsible for the Finance, Financial Recovery, and Risk departments, with accountabilities that include budgeting & forecasting; financial reporting and analysis; audit and tax filing; asset liability management and compliance.

  • Coastal Credit Union has hired Doreen Duffy as VP of Human Resources. In her role, Duffy will develop and execute Coastal’s human resources strategy in support of the credit union’s overall strategic plan. She will be responsible for succession planning, talent management, performance management, benefits, and compensation. She and her team will work proactively with business units to attract and retain top talent to ensure that Coastal’s workforce remains aligned with and capable of executing the strategic plan to achieve its goals.

  • Workers Credit Union has appointed John Decker as the Vice President of Commercial Lending. In this role, he will work with local businesses and real estate investors to meet their lending needs. Decker most recently served as VP, Commercial Loan Officer at BankFive in Fall River, Massachusetts. He brings over 25 years of commercial lending experience to the role and will help with relationship building and financial management.

  • The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) is elated to announce that John Hirabayashi has won the 2023 Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service award recognizes lifelong service to the credit union movement reaching beyond the natural person credit union.

Appointments

  • Valley First Credit Union welcomes Fred Cruz and Donna Riley to its Board of Directors and Christopher L. Barnes and Gilbert Lovinsky to its Supervisory Committee. Valley First Credit Union’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee are leaders in driving the credit union’s success. Community-oriented and service-minded, they are motivated individuals with a passion for the financial well-being of the credit union’s members.

  • The PenFed Foundation announces the appointment of Doug Doan and Pete Hilger to its Board of Directors. Doan is the founder and General Partner of the Hivers and Strivers Investment Fund and Hilger serves as the CEO of Allied Solutions. "The PenFed Foundation is honored to welcome to our Board of Directors these two distinguished leaders," said PenFed Foundation President Andrea McCarren. "Doug and Pete bring decades of experience and leadership and are passionate about our mission of helping to ensure the transition of veterans from military service to success in their civilian lives."
