TruWest® Credit Union Announces Chris Kearney as New President & CEO
Kearney Officially Assumed Role on Oct. 1 Following Alan Althouse’s Retirement
TruWest Credit Union proudly announced the official promotion of Chris Kearney to president and chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1. Kearney had served as president and chief information officer of TruWest since 2023, and this appointment marked the next chapter in TruWest’s leadership transition following the retirement of long-standing President and CEO Alan Althouse on Sept. 30.
Kearney joined TruWest in 2012 as senior vice president & chief information officer, where he spearheaded numerous strategic initiatives that have modernized operations and enhanced the member experience. His promotion to CEO is the culmination of years of leadership across critical business areas, including technology, data, and strategy.
“Chris has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive innovation and inspire our teams to deliver exceptional service,” said outgoing CEO Alan Althouse. “After working closely with Chris over the past several years, I am confident that TruWest is in excellent hands. His vision and leadership will guide the organization toward continued growth while maintaining our core values of member and community service.”
Kearney’s promotion is part of TruWest’s well-established succession plan. Under his leadership, TruWest will continue to build on its commitment to financial wellness for its members and community, with an emphasis on technological advancement and process improvement.
“I am deeply honored to take on this role as CEO and grateful for the trust placed in me by Alan and the board,” said Kearney. “Our organization’s commitment to our members, employees, and community will remain at the forefront of everything we do as we continue to evolve and innovate in this fast-changing financial landscape.”
Kearney’s background includes a decade in technology management within the credit union industry prior to joining TruWest. He holds a bachelor’s degree in technology and an Executive MBA from Arizona State University.
Alan Althouse, who served TruWest for 20 years, including eight as president & CEO, will be retiring after overseeing significant growth and transformation at the credit union. His tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to the TruWest community and a culture of collaboration.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with an incredible team and serving a dedicated membership base over the past two decades,” said Althouse. “As I step into retirement, I have full confidence in Chris’ ability to lead TruWest into an exciting future. His forward-thinking approach will ensure we continue to thrive in a rapidly evolving financial world.”
