MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) helped welcome new and returning Spartans to campus by officially launching its new virtual reality game, Campus Explorer Experience, during Michigan State University’s Welcome Week.

The new game integrates MSUFCU into the MSU campus in a five- to 15-minute immersive VR journey. Students have the opportunity to experience different parts of campus, such as

  • Watching a welcome video from MSUFCU President and CEO April Clobes at 311 Abbot.
  • Experiencing a bird’s-eye view of MSU with interactive campus landmarks.
  • Visiting the MSU Dairy Store, featuring MSUFCU’s signature flavor, Totally Green Chocochip ice cream, and exploring payment options.
  • Throwing Frisbees with Zeke the Wonderdog, while learning quick financial tips through Financial 4.0.
  • Painting The Rock to show community pride.
  • Stepping into Spartan Stadium for a glimpse of the on-field excitement.
  • Exploring immersive opportunities around major campus buildings and spaces.

The game made its debut at In Good Taste, located in the MSU Union. In Good Taste is a community gathering spot powered by MSUFCU that offers students, faculty, and the community a social base to connect over shared interests. Campus Explorer Experience aims to uniquely promote financial learning to students and help them understand the services available to them through MSUFCU.

“The game highlights how MSU and MSUFCU are better together, by combining financial wellness with an engaging, interactive campus experience,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, MSUFCU Vice President of Community Impact. “It provides students with financial learning opportunities in a fun and meaningful way, especially as many navigate life at college for the very first time.”

Campus Explorer Experience was developed in collaboration with MSU’s Games for Entertainment and Learning Lab. Established in 2005, the GEL Lab has designed and researched 30-plus games funded by organizations including the National Science Foundation, NASA, National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Ford Motor Co. Fund, and MSUFCU.

The Campus Explorer Experience will return to In Good Taste in late September.
