Consumers Credit Union is proud to announce that we have been recognized by Mastercard® for our outstanding commitment to supporting small business through innovation and inclusion. This marks the sixth consecutive year Consumers has received the prestigious Mastercard Community Institution Segment Award, and this year we were honored in the Small Business Impact category.
In 2025, Consumers launched a transformative initiative to modernize small business services, blending digital innovation with personalized member engagement. At the heart of this effort was the development of a new online business loan application platform, designed to streamline the lending process and eliminate paper-based workflows. Officially launched on June 1, the platform quickly gained traction. By August, 83 percent of new business loan applications were submitted online, demonstrating strong member adoption and satisfaction.
This digital advancement was complemented by a strategic investment in bilingual member services, ensuring Spanish-speaking small business owners could access tailored support. In January, a bilingual business services team member was promoted to small business banking specialist, focusing on loans under $200,000. Her outreach efforts resulted in:
· 30% increase in deposits
· 19% increase in loans
· 891 new Spanish-preference memberships
Additionally, Consumers expanded its bilingual workforce from 35 to 42 employees, reinforcing our commitment to culturally responsive service. These efforts also contributed to a 14 percent year-over-year increase in business Mastercard lines of credit, further strengthening member trust, engagement and ability to operate.
“This award reflects our dedication to empowering small businesses through technology and personalized service,” said Katie Stoll, vice president of payments. “By combining digital tools with human connection, we’ve created a scalable model that supports growth and inclusion for all members.”
