BECU continues expansion with five new Neighborhood Financial Centers

BECU, Washington’s largest credit union, is continuing its expansion by adding new Neighborhood Financial Centers (NFCs) in Auburn (Lakeland Hills neighborhood), Liberty Lake, and Mercer Island.

With these additions, the credit union has announced five new locations in 2026, including its recently opened Bainbridge Island NFC and soon-to-open Lakewood NFC.

“Opening new locations reflects our continued growth and our commitment to expanding access while investing in the economic vitality of communities across Washington,” said BECU Chief Member and Digital Experience Officer Jason Rudman. “By partnering locally and showing up where our members live and work, we can help strengthen local economies and provide meaningful, everyday financial support.”

The Lakeland Hills, Liberty Lake, and Mercer Island locations will feature both in-person and digital services such as Video Banking. Member consultants will be available to support members with opening accounts, mortgages, personal loans, auto loans, business services, and more.

Community Commitment

BECU is a member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to improving the financial well-being of its members and communities. In addition to providing members with financial services, the credit union supports local nonprofits in the communities it serves. In 2025, BECU donated $8.1 million to nonprofits that are increasing financial access, improving education, and helping individuals increase their earning potential. As BECU gets closer to opening these new locations, it will deepen its partnerships with nonprofits in the local communities.

Lakeland Hills NFC in Auburn

BECU’s Lakeland Hills NFC is expected to open in late summer or early fall and serve the credit union’s growing 16,800 member community in the area. Located at 7096 Lakeland Hills Way Southeast, the new 2,900-square-foot location will join other nearby NFCs in Auburn and Bonney Lake. As Lakeland Hills and the surrounding communities continue to grow, the new location will help meet increasing demand for financial services. BECU also has longstanding partnerships with Auburn-area nonprofits including Junior Achievement of Washington, Orion Industries, Young Money Matters Mentoring, and more.

“Auburn is a place where people put down roots and build lasting connections, and we remain committed to supporting this community’s long-term financial well-being,” Rudman said. “Our new Lakeland Hills location will allow us to serve members at every stage of their financial journey — whether they’re purchasing a home, opening an Early Saver account, planning for college or navigating other important milestones.”

Liberty Lake NFC

BECU’s Liberty Lake NFC is expected to open at the end of 2026, as part of the credit union’s broader expansion across Spokane County. Located on the corner of Indiana Avenue and Harvard Road, the 3,000-square-foot location will offer a convenient option for the credit union’s 29,000 members in the region to take care of financial transactions. BECU is deeply invested in communities across Spokane, supporting organizations such as Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Scale House Market, Launchpad Inland Northwest, and more.

“As one of the fastest growing communities in Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake is a place where families, local businesses and community organizations are thriving,” Rudman said. “By opening a location here, we’re making it easier for members who live and work between Spokane and Coeur d’Alene to access the financial services they need, while strengthening our ongoing commitment to the greater Spokane region.”

Mercer Island NFC

BECU’s Mercer Island NFC is expected to open in late fall or winter and will be the credit union’s first location in the community, serving more than 4,000 members. The 2,600-square-foot location at 7785 Sunset Highway offers convenient access for members running errands, visiting nearby businesses, or commuting. Currently, BECU partners with Covenant Living at The Shores, and as BECU establishes its presence on Mercer Island, the credit union will look to build additional partnerships.

“Mercer Island is a place where people look out for each other and build lasting connections, which aligns deeply with who we are as a credit union,” Rudman said. “This new location will allow us to support members with convenient financial services while also creating partnerships that strengthen the community in meaningful ways.”
