Neshaminy Seniors Score $2,000 as Credit Union Brings Back Scholarship Program

College is expensive. Like, really expensive.

So when Inspire Federal Credit Union decided to bring back its scholarship program after a multi-year hiatus, nearly 30 Neshaminy High School seniors jumped at the chance to lighten their financial load.

The result? Three exceptional students are now heading off to college with $2,000 scholarships in hand—and here’s the kicker: Inspire FCU originally planned to award just two scholarships, but the applications were so strong they couldn’t help themselves.

Meet this year’s winners:

  • Kayla Stilwell – Heading to Thomas Jefferson University to study Pre Medical Studies
  • Adelia Hunter – Off to the University of Pittsburgh for Neuroscience
  • Sydney Kallen – Studying Biology at NC State University

Why Now?

The timing isn’t random. With tuition costs climbing faster than a Marvel movie budget, Inspire FCU saw an opportunity to make a real difference in their community.

“With the cost of higher education rising, we wanted to bring this program back to help local students take their next step,” said Jim Merrill, President and CEO of Inspire Federal Credit Union. “We’re proud to recognize these outstanding Neshaminy seniors and deepen our support of Neshaminy High School.”

And their support goes beyond just cutting checks once a year. Inspire FCU also backs athletics and financial literacy programs at Neshaminy High School—because teaching kids how money actually works is almost as important as helping them pay for college.

Honoring a Legacy

Starting this year, the scholarship gets a new name: the Vince Magyar Excellence in Education Scholarship. It’s named after Vincent “Vince” Magyar, who spent 35 years as an educator in the Pennsbury School District and volunteered 17 years on Inspire’s Board of Directors. Not a bad legacy to leave behind.

So here’s to Kayla, Adelia, and Sydney—and to a credit union that remembered what community support actually looks like.
