The Credit Union is seeking a seasoned financial executive to join their team as the Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the CEO, they will be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of the credit union’s financial and administrative functions. Acts as a key member of the executive leadership team to partner with the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive management to support the credit union’s long-term financial strength, operational performance, growth initiatives, and member service objectives.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Provides financial guidance to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors to develop successful strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Leads long-range financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and capital management processes.
- Monitors financial performance, trends, and key metrics to ensure sustainable growth and financial strength.
- Evaluates the financial impact of strategic decisions, new products, branch expansion opportunities, and organizational initiatives.
- Provides financial modeling and scenario analysis to support executive decision-making and strategic planning efforts.
- Ensure appropriate capital planning strategies are in place to support growth, regulatory expectations, and financial stability.
- Oversees profitability analysis for products, services, channels, and business units.
- Guides pricing strategies related to consumer and commercial loans, deposits, and fee structures to support financial performance and market competitiveness.
- Leads financial due diligence activities related to mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, or strategic alliances.
- Ensures strong financial governance, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and the accurate and timely reporting of financial information, including corporate tax reporting.
- Oversees treasury management activities including liquidity, investments, funding strategies, and cash management.
- Leads asset/liability management (ALM) strategies to manage interest rate risk and optimize financial performance.
- Provides executive oversight of Business Intelligence and enterprise analytics functions.
- Promotes a data-driven culture through effective reporting, dashboards, analytics, and performance measurement tools.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to identify operational insights and strategic opportunities through data analysis.
- Oversees the preparation and implementation of the annual budget that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and participates in board of director meetings.
- Participates as the chairman of the Asset / Liability Management Committee and as a member of the Loan Credit Committees.
- Represents the credit union through community and industry involvement while maintaining ongoing executive and professional development to remain informed of industry best practices and innovative leadership approaches.
- Works with internal and external auditors and examiners during periodic audits. Provides any documentation and explanations requested.
- Ensure compliance on a day to day basis within the areas of your responsibility and ensure that employees will receive the necessary training to comply with applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), which apply specifically to their job.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent with eight to ten years similar or related experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience overseeing multiple administrative and operational functions at an enterprise level.
Demonstrated experience in executive leadership, strategic planning, financial reporting and risk management, investments, budgeting, and liquidity management, with a strong understanding of NCUA regulations and ALM principles.
Experience supporting large organizational initiatives such as mergers/acquisitions, or enterprise transformation projects preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial institution accounting, treasury management, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business technology platforms, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making within established policies, while effectively navigating complex situations requiring strategic discretion beyond written guidelines.
Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while managing competing priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and successfully pass the required criminal background screening.
Requires sitting for the majority of the day, lifting up to 20 pounds, bending and reaching above and below shoulder level occasionally.
