Is This the Career for You?
The Vice President of Risk is responsible for shaping and advancing a comprehensive, enterprise-wide approach to risk management. This position will lead the development and execution of a forward-looking Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategy, ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in alignment with the credit union’s risk appetite and strategic goals.

This role is ideal for a leader who brings deep experience in enterprise risk and compliance at an organizational level, along with a proven ability to build and scale new programs, frameworks, and governance structures. Credit union or financial services experience is essential to navigate the regulatory environment and member-focused mission.

Partnering closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Risk will help define and implement a multi-year legal and governance strategy, providing guidance on contracts, regulatory interpretation, and organizational policy. This leader will also oversee key risk functions including compliance, vendor management, fraud prevention, quality assurance, and data integrity ensuring strong controls and consistent practices across the enterprise.

Success in this role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across departments, strengthen internal controls, and embed a culture of accountability, integrity, and proactive risk management. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, helping the organization balance innovation and growth with sound risk practices.

Showcase your hands-on experience establishing and administering compliance governance and oversight functions, along with your knowledge of NCUA, federal, and state regulations impacting credit unions. Ideal candidates bring 5–10 years of risk management experience and at least 5 years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is preferred.
