Golf, Good Vibes, and $71K: How BrightBridge’s Charity Tournament Just Leveled Up Community Support

There’s something about a perfect June day on the golf course that just hits different—especially when you’re swinging for a good cause.

That’s exactly what went down on June 8 at Atkinson Resort & Country Club, where BrightBridge Credit Union‘s Charity Golf Classic brought together business partners, community members, and teammates for 18 holes of competitive fun and serious fundraising.

The bottom line? They crushed it. The tournament raised more than $71,000 for the BrightBridge Foundation, the credit union’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm that’s all about strengthening the communities they serve.

More Than Birdies and Bogeys

Sure, golf tournaments are a dime a dozen in the corporate world. But here’s what makes this one different: every dollar raised goes directly toward financial education programs and community organizations that actually move the needle for local families. We’re talking real impact—like supporting the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ Build A Bed program, keeping the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen in Waltham running, and funding the Officer Paul Tracey Memorial Scholarship, which honors a fallen hero by creating educational opportunities for future generations.

“We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to make this incredible day so special,” said John J. Howard, President & CEO of BrightBridge Credit Union. “Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Synergent, for being such a great partner to work—and golf—with, and to all of our sponsors for supporting the Foundation’s important work in our communities. Events like this bring people together for a great day on the course while making a meaningful impact. We’re already looking forward to next year!”

When Fun Meets Function

The weather gods were clearly on team BrightBridge, delivering ideal conditions for a day packed with more than just your standard golf outing. Think air cannons, dartboard challenges, and the return of Speed Golf for its second year. But the real showstopper? The debut of the Money Machine presented by Montagne Powers—because nothing says “charity golf tournament” quite like literally grabbing cash out of the air.

Between holes, golfers weren’t left to survive on stale pretzels and warm water. Unique snacks and refreshments kept everyone fueled throughout the day, proving that good food and good fundraising go hand in hand.

It Takes a Village (and Some Really Great Sponsors)

Behind every successful event is a small army of volunteers who make the magic happen. BrightBridge team members showed up in force, creating a seamless experience that let participants focus on what matters: enjoying the day and supporting the cause.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the sponsors who put their money where their values are. Presenting sponsor Synergent led the charge, joined by Platinum sponsor TruStage and Palladium sponsors GEEAR and Service Credit Union. Their generosity doesn’t just make for a great golf tournament—it creates ripple effects across the entire region, funding programs that change lives one family at a time.

With $71,000 now in the Foundation’s corner and momentum building for next year’s event, it’s clear that when community comes together with purpose, everybody wins. And yeah, the golf’s pretty fun too.
