Andrews Federal Credit Union‘s Wiesbaden location just scored the Army’s top honor for 2025.
The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) announced that the U.S. Army Financial Management Command picked Andrews Federal (USAG Wiesbaden) as this year’s Army Distinguished Credit Union of the Year.
Translation? Out of all the credit unions serving Army installations, this one stood out as the best of the best.
“We proudly congratulate Andrews Federal Credit Union on this well-deserved recognition,” said Anthony Hernandez, DCUC President and CEO (and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, so he knows a thing or two about military service). “This honor reflects their unwavering commitment to serving soldiers, veterans, and military families stationed overseas.”
But Hernandez didn’t stop there. He highlighted something important: Andrews Federal isn’t just processing transactions and handing out loans. “Andrews Federal exemplifies how defense credit unions go beyond traditional financial services by strengthening well-being, building resilience, and supporting the readiness of those who serve our nation,” he added.
That’s the real story here—credit unions that serve military communities aren’t your typical financial institutions. They’re supporting the people who support all of us.
A Tradition of Recognition
This award isn’t new. Since 1984, the Army has been asking installation commanders to nominate their local banks and credit unions for Distinguished Service Awards. Every year, they review submissions and recognize the branches delivering exceptional financial service and support to their communities.
The Department of the Army takes these nominations seriously, carefully reviewing each one to identify institutions that truly make a difference for soldiers and their families. For Andrews Federal’s Wiesbaden team, that careful review paid off with top honors.
