Football and finance might seem like an odd couple, but Meritrust Credit Union is making it work.
The Colorado-based credit union just announced a partnership with Division I quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis that’s about more than just touchdowns—it’s about helping people build stronger financial futures.
The collaboration kicks off for the 2026 college football season, and it’s built on a pretty simple idea: both Meritrust and JuJu want to help their community level up. Whether that’s through smart money management or inspiring the next generation, these two are playing the long game.
“We’re proud to welcome JuJu as he continues building his path and inspiring current and future generations to take charge of their financial futures,” said James Nastars, CEO of Meritrust. “His drive, leadership and integrity reflect the values we share at Meritrust. We look forward to cheering him on this season and creating a positive impact together in the Colorado community.”
Lewis seems equally pumped about the partnership. “I’m excited to partner with Meritrust and represent a team that’s invested in the Boulder community,” the quarterback said. “I’m always looking for ways to grow, lead by example and make a positive impact on and off the field. I’m looking forward to what we can accomplish together this season.”
It’s a natural fit when you think about it. Both JuJu and Meritrust are focused on laying solid groundwork—he’s doing it on the field while building his college career, and they’re doing it by helping members get their financial lives in order. Throughout the 2026 season, expect to see this duo championing financial wellness and community growth across Colorado.
Because at the end of the day, the best offense is a good financial defense. (Okay, we’ll stop with the sports metaphors now.)
Julian “JuJu” Lewis is a quarterback in Boulder. A former five-star recruit from Carrollton, Georgia, Lewis entered Colorado as one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects. He leads with integrity and commitment and continues to work hard to make an impact on and off the field.
