American Heritage Credit Union just snagged the #16 spot on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of Fastest-Growing Commercial Lenders for July 2026.
Not too shabby for a credit union making waves in the competitive world of business banking.
The recognition isn’t just a participation trophy—it highlights financial institutions that have built solid, successful commercial lending operations. And American Heritage has clearly been doing their homework. Their commercial lending portfolio includes everything from traditional commercial loans to small business financing and business credit cards loaded with perks. Translation? They’re helping entrepreneurs turn “someday” into “today” by funding equipment purchases, covering operational costs, financing properties, and basically greasing the wheels of business growth.
“Our Commercial Lending department established itself as one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic commercial lending organizations in the market,” said William Mello, Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending at American Heritage. “This momentum is a testament to the strength of our team, the trust business members place in us, and our unwavering commitment to delivering financial solutions with speed, flexibility, and exceptional service. We built a premier commercial banking platform designed to help businesses thrive, create lasting relationships, and drive economic growth throughout the Philadelphia region.”
To even qualify for this list, institutions had to be headquartered in Philadelphia and show a commercial and industrial balance at the end of Q1 2026. The National Credit Union Administration provided the data, which revealed that Philly credit unions collectively held over $2.9 billion in commercial loans as of March 31, 2026—a healthy 9.56% jump from the same period in 2025.
Bruce K. Foulke, President and CEO of American Heritage, didn’t hold back his enthusiasm either. “I am incredibly proud of the tireless work and success of our Commercial Lending team,” he said. “Will and his entire team have developed excellent relationships with our commercial partners and have allowed this portion of our business model to thrive. We’re honored to be recognized amongst such prestigious company by the Philadelphia Business Journal.”
Bottom line? American Heritage is proving that credit unions can compete with the big banks when it comes to serving business clients—and they’re doing it with the kind of relationship-focused approach that makes a real difference.
