A member walks into a Texans Credit Union branch to open an account. Not long ago, that meant a stretch of paperwork and waiting.
Now it takes about 5.7 minutes, and in the branch it can be up to five times faster than before. That change is one piece of a bigger story, and Alkami has just published a case study on it.
Alkami Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALKT), a digital sales and service platform provider for U.S. financial institutions, announced it is expanding its relationship with Texans Credit Union. Texans is based in Richardson, Texas, and serves more than 150,000 members. The case study tracks gains in digital engagement, member satisfaction, deposits, and membership, along with better operational efficiency.
More than a platform swap
Texans moved from its previous digital banking provider to Alkami’s Digital Banking Platform. It treated that conversion as a starting point rather than a finish line. Since then, the credit union has:
- Adopted MANTL Onboarding & Account Opening
- Built differentiated experiences using Alkami’s software development kit (SDK), the toolset that lets an institution create its own features
- Added fintech integrations through Alkami’s partner ecosystem
The result is more control over how Texans shapes its digital experience, responds to members, and launches new capabilities.
“Alkami gave us more than a new Digital Banking Platform. It gave us a long-term partner and the infrastructure to create the experiences members need to manage and advance their financial lives,” said Mike McWethy, executive vice president at Texans Credit Union. “Our goal isn’t simply to have more digital users; it’s to make the experience valuable enough that members want to keep engaging with us, and Alkami is central to how we create that engagement. By making it easier to take action, delivering relevant insights and connecting account opening directly into digital banking, we can meet members in the moment, deepen relationships, and help them do more with us. That means we can move faster, scale with the organization, and continue improving the member experience over time, supporting growth, retention, and innovation.”
Building around its own priorities
With the SDK, Texans created My Texans Hub, a place where members can find important relationship information easily. It also cuts down on avoidable support inquiries. Fintech partners have added capabilities in money movement, fraud prevention, mobile deposit, direct deposit switching, and member service.
The latest addition is MANTL, which links application, decisioning, and funding with digital banking. That streamlines account opening in both digital and branch channels.
The results so far
- Digital engagement: Active digital banking users grew 42% after implementation, and the app holds a 4.8-star App Store rating.
- Member satisfaction: Net promoter score rose from 73.6 to 89.4.
- Online account growth: Online accounts booked doubled in the first month after MANTL went live.
- Account opening speed: Average opening time is about 5.7 minutes across channels, and the in-branch experience is up to five times faster.
- Early deposits: In the first six weeks of the in-branch MANTL experience, Texans booked more than 1,200 applications and nearly $11.5 million in deposits.
“Texans Credit Union demonstrates the compounding value of treating a platform conversion as the foundation for a broader growth strategy,” said Benjamin Conant, chief product officer at Alkami. “By bringing together onboarding and account opening, digital banking, an extensible SDK, and an ecosystem of integrated technology partners, Texans has greater flexibility to determine what it needs and how to deliver it. The results show how that flexibility can translate into stronger engagement, greater efficiency, and measurable growth.”
Texans started with a platform conversion and kept building, and the numbers show what that approach can return.
