From Part-Time Member Rep to COO: Jason Schneider’s 20-Year Climb at TDECU

Jason Schneider TDECU Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Twenty-plus years ago, Jason Schneider took a part-time job as a Member service representative at TDECU while studying at the University of Houston.

This month, he became the credit union’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

TDECU is Houston’s largest credit union, and Schneider’s route to the top floor ran straight through its branches. The Angleton native started out serving Members face to face. From there he moved up through a series of leadership roles, picking up a hand in several of the credit union’s biggest strategic initiatives and growth opportunities along the way.

A career built from the inside

His most recent post was chief financial officer. In that seat, Schneider helped shore up TDECU’s financial foundation, push enterprise strategy forward, and support the credit union’s long-term vision.

Now he takes charge of business operations as TDECU keeps growing and its membership keeps expanding.

President and CEO Isaac Johnson sees Schneider’s story as proof of concept. “Jason’s career reflects the promise and opportunity TDECU strives to create,” Johnson said. “He has grown with the organization, experienced its evolution firsthand, and helped advance its transformation. His deep understanding of our Members, our culture, and our purpose makes him exceptionally well prepared to lead TDECU’s operations into the future.”

Schneider kept his own reaction grateful. “I am honored to serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer,” he said. “TDECU has been a defining part of my professional journey, and I am grateful for the mentors, teammates, and Members who have supported and shaped that experience.”

The credentials behind the title

The résumé backs up the loyalty. Schneider holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business and an MBA in finance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He also completed the Emerging CFO Strategic Financial Leadership Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder through CFA Institute and an active member of CFA Society Houston. He has also served on several boards, a nod to his commitment to strengthening the financial services industry and the communities TDECU serves.

For a credit union growing this fast, the person running operations now knows the job from the teller line to the balance sheet.
