Steve Castagna has spent 26 years in fintech, and he’s now President of AKUVO, the collections and recovery technology company that serves banks, credit unions, and fintechs. He has been on the team since the company’s earliest days, most recently as Chief Growth Officer. Founder and CEO Jay Mossman isn’t going anywhere. He stays in the top seat, with Castagna joining him in a new role.

Mossman describes a partnership that goes back years. He says he has watched Castagna’s knowledge and vision up close, along with a steady commitment to customers and partners. In Mossman’s words, Castagna builds relationships on trust and a real desire to see clients succeed. He also credits him with helping shape AKUVO from the start, and says he has “tremendous confidence” in what Castagna brings to the job.

The timing fits the company’s trajectory. AKUVO is serving a growing community of financial institutions, and this move strengthens its leadership for the next phase of growth. The board sees it as a way to support that expansion without losing the customer focus and industry expertise that have defined the company since day one.

Rachel Arnold, who chairs the board and is Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Endeavor Fund at Vista Equity Partners, said the board has great confidence in both Castagna and Mossman. She noted that Castagna helped build AKUVO and position it for what’s ahead, and that the promotion recognizes those contributions. Charles Chung, a current board member and past board Chair, called it a “well-earned appointment.” He credited Castagna with turning AKUVO’s vision into a growing business with strong ties across financial services, and with bringing energy, judgment, and deep industry understanding from the beginning.

In his new role, Castagna will work with Mossman and the leadership team to build on the company’s growth and its investment in intelligent collections and recovery technology. The record during his time as a senior leader is concrete. AKUVO has widened its customer base and shipped major technology advances, including Virtual Collector, AKUVO iQ, and broader AI and predictive intelligence capabilities. These tools are meant to help financial institutions make better-informed decisions and engage account holders more effectively.

Castagna thanked Mossman, the board, and the team for their confidence. He said he believes deeply in the people and the business they’re building together. Customers, he noted, are asking big questions about where collections and recovery are headed, and he’s confident AKUVO can help them navigate it with better technology, deeper intelligence, and a relentless focus on their success.

Those customer questions are worth watching. Look for how AKUVO’s AI and predictive tools evolve under the Mossman-Castagna pairing, and for whether the customer base keeps growing as the company moves into this next chapter.
