“Mobile service is a critical tool our members use every day,” said Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage Credit Union.
That’s the thinking behind a new partnership with Members Mobile Inc., which launched this week and gives American Heritage members a different way to handle one of their biggest monthly bills.
It’s Members Mobile’s third credit union launch and its first in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Members get nationwide 4G/5G premium service as an alternative to the major carriers, plus perks tied to their credit union membership. The biggest is Monthly Cash ShareBacks™, which are deposited straight into the member’s American Heritage account. Phone service sits near the top of most household budgets, so even modest savings add up.
American Heritage isn’t just putting its name on the program. It has made a strategic investment in Members Mobile CUSO (the credit union service organization that backs the company), joining other credit unions that invested before launch. That’s a fairly clear sign of marketing commitment.
The credit union itself is a big one. Headquartered in Philadelphia and founded in 1948, American Heritage manages more than $5 billion in assets and serves more than 325,000 members. It also works with more than 800 Workplace Partners and operates 35+ locations across Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Camden counties.
On the practical side, members can pick from simple plans and get what Members Mobile calls white-glove VIM (Very Important Member) Support. There’s also a proprietary Data SafetyNet™, which lets members carry forward unused data up to their plan amount, so running short is less likely. Switching is low-effort: bring your own compatible smartphone, keep your number, and activate digitally in a few clicks. No store visit, no hold music (one hopes).
For the credit union, the model works in both directions. Members Mobile was built so credit unions can offer mobile service as a member benefit while earning non-interest income, and it gives members one more reason to consolidate their financial relationships in one place. “This partnership gives more than 325,000 American Heritage members a simple way to save hundreds of dollars on their mobile phone service,” said Luis Jimenez-Tunon, Co-founder of Members Mobile, adding that it comes through an institution members already trust.
Co-founder Gary Brandt framed the bigger goal as bringing money and mobile together so they create real, recurring value. In his words, the launch shows how phone service can become an everyday benefit that reinforces the credit union relationship with every monthly bill and every bit of accumulated savings.
For American Heritage members, the monthly phone bill now comes with a payout.
