The African Diaspora Federal Credit Union (A.D.F.C.U.) has launched an urgent two-week fundraising campaign to raise the final capital needed to open its doors on December 15.

The “100 for 1000” campaign seeks 100 donors — credit unions, vendors, trade associations, and industry partners — to contribute $1,000 each, totaling $100,000 in foundational capital.

After a five-year chartering journey, A.D.F.C.U. has exhausted much of its initial capital preparing its first branch in St. Louis. This final capital infusion will ensure regulatory strength and allow the credit union to begin serving members immediately upon opening.

“African Diaspora FCU represents the cooperative spirit that built our movement,” said Michael Kodjo Anani, President of A.D.F.C.U. “We are calling on the credit union industry to help us open our doors and bring fair, dignified financial services to a community long underserved by traditional institutions.”

The credit union has already received in-kind support and mentorship from organizations including CU*Answers and Together Credit Union, and a small credit union has pledged a $100,000 low-interest non-member deposit — demonstrating broad support for this mission.
