Alabama Credit Union Association Honors Representative Barbara Drummond as 2025 Lawmaker of the Year

The Alabama Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions, recognizes Representative Barbara Drummond (HD-103) as the recipient of the 2025 State Lawmaker of the Year Award in Alabama, honoring her leadership and support of credit unions and the members she serves.

“Representative Drummond has been a dependable and engaged partner to Alabama’s credit unions,” said Michelle Roth, Vice President of Advocacy at The League. “As a lifelong credit union member, she understands the cooperative model firsthand and consistently takes the time to listen to credit unions’ concerns, engage in meaningful dialogue, and support policies that protect access to affordable financial services for Alabamians.”

Since joining the Alabama House of Representatives in 2014, Representative Drummond has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and a clear understanding of the role financial institutions play in supporting individuals, small businesses, and local economies. Representative Drummond is known for being accessible, thoughtful, and receptive to credit union perspectives when financial services issues are under consideration. Through ongoing engagement with credit unions and a willingness to collaborate on complex issues, Representative Drummond has helped advance initiatives that strengthen access to financial services across Alabama.
