Black Dragon Capital℠ (“Black Dragon”) has announced its sponsorship of the 8th Annual SECU Foundation Golf Classic, happening this September 29th at Turf Valley Golf Club in Ellicott City, Maryland. This sponsorship is part of a larger partnership with SECU (“see-Q”), Maryland’s largest credit union.
The 8th Annual SECU Foundation Golf Classic aims to provide educational and financial resources that empower Maryland students. By sponsoring the event, Black Dragon Capital and its sister organization, For A Bright Future Foundation, will contribute to the effort to provide educational and financial resources to help Marylanders grow and prosper, and communities thrive. All proceeds benefit the SECU MD Foundation, including its scholarship program that has distributed over $1.1M to help Maryland college students complete their education.
A Culture of Giving Back
As an organization that is deeply committed to remaining an active part of the communities they serve, Black Dragon Capital℠ has consistently shown support to the credit union community and their advocacies over the years. Most of the Black Dragon team actively have roles at For A Bright Future, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of underrepresented and underprivileged children through education, healthcare, the arts, and youth leadership development. Louis Hernandez, Jr., the Chairman, CEO and Managing Partner of Black Dragon Capital, is also the Founder and major funder of the For A Bright Future Foundation.
The firm’s advocacy often intersects with that of the credit union community, which is why they have consistently taken on opportunities to give back. Black Dragon Capital supports over 20 annual college scholarships including a FinTech scholarship and those for military veterans, they provide a unique FinTech Lab program across the country and have been consistent sponsors of several Children’s Hospitals including the Children’s Miracle Network. Just last month, Black Dragon also reinforced their commitment to children’s health by sponsoring the 2025 Credit Unions for Kids Northwest Classic Golf Tournament.
Partnership with SECU
Black Dragon has formed partnerships with multiple credit unions to address the unique challenges of the credit union industry. SECU, Maryland’s largest state-chartered credit union, is one of the firm’s partners and a member of the Black Dragon Capital FinTech Limited Partner Advisory Board – an organization comprised of recognized credit union and CUSO investment partners which works with the firm to find advanced technological solutions that can help them serve their members better.
